“Flooding victims in Bolivia receive medicines and supplies from HPIC”

“ An emergency shipment of donated medicines and medical supplies arrived in La Paz, Bolivia in late April to help victims of the annual flooding. ... HPIC pulled together almost $160,000 in donated medicines, including pain relief and antibiotics, from seven pharmaceutical and healthcare products companies in response to a needs list supplied by the ministry. The project was supported by Bolivian-Canadian doctor Ivar Mendez, head of neurosurgery at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.“

Guyanese Health Minister Ramsammy recognized

On November 12, 2009, at the Global Fund Board meeting in Ethiopia, Minister Ramsammy became the first President of the Board of the AMFm (Affordable Medicines Facility – malaria ).

This is an organization to which Bill Gates, Clinton Foundation, UNITAID, the French Government, the US Government, Canada and the EU have given $500M to ensure affordable access to malaria drugs.
